INS ARIHANT

INS ARIHANT- SLAYER OF THE ENEMIES IS INDIA'S FIRST INDIGINEOUSLY BUILT NUCLEAR SUBMARINE AT VISHAKAPATNAM. IT WAS LAUNCHED ON 26 JULY 2009 ALSO CALLED AS VIJAY DIWAS. THE MEANING OF ARIHANT IS 'DESTROYER OF ENEMIES' IN SANSKRIT.

THIS SUBMARINE IS IN THE CLASS OF CHARLIE-II SUBMARINES. IT WILL BE POWERED BY 85MW WATER REACTOR AND ENRICHED WITH URANIUM FUEL.
