RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909–11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried 2,224 people.

ACCORDING TO MANY REPORTS,SCIENTISTS CLAIM THAT MATHS AND PHYSICS PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC AT 11.40 PM ON SUNDAY 14 APRIL 1912. SCIENCE WRITER RICHARD CORFIELD TAKES A MORE LOOK AT ITS STRUCTURAL DEFECIENCIES WHICH CAUSED ITS SINKING AND HE HIGHLIGHTED THE WORK OF 2 METALLURGISTS TIM FOECKE,JENNIFER HOOPER MCCARTY WHO COMBINED THEIR OWN ANALYSIS WITH HISTORICAL RECORDS FROM THE SHIPYARD IN BELFAST WHERE IT WAS BUILT AND FOUND OUT THAT THE MAIN REASIN FOR ITS SINKING WAS THAT THE RIVETS THAT HELD THE SHIP'S HULL TOGETHER WERE NOT UNIFORM IN COMPOSITION OR QUALITY AND NOT BEEN INSERTED IN UNIFORM FASHION.THEY STATED THAT POORER MATERIALS WERE USED FOR COST CUTTING EXERCISE. THEY ALSO CLAIM THAT WEATHER ALSO RESULTED IN IT'S SINKING DUE TO THE LABRADOR CURRENT COMING FORM THE CARRIBEAN.
SOME CLAIM THAT THE OWNERS OF THE SHIP WANTED TO PROVE TO 'US' THAT THEY CAN ALSO SAIL FASTER AND REACH THEIR DESTINATION AHEAD OF SCHEDULED TIME AND SO THEY ASKED THE MASTER TO INCREASE THE SHIPS SPEED TO MAXIMUM AND THE MASTER REFUSED. BUT THE OWNERS BRINWASHED HIM THAT HE WOULD WE REPLACED BY SOME OTHER GUY IF HE WOULD NOT FOLLOW THEIR ORDERS AND HENCE THE MASTER EVEN THOUGH KNEW ABOUT THE SHIP'S WEAKNESS STILL OBLIGED TO THEM AND INCREASED THE SHIP'S SPEED TO MAXIMUM RESULTING IN OVERLOADING AND VIBRATION CAUSING FAILURE IF THE HULL RIVETS.
CAPTAIN SMITH DIED ALONG WITH IT AND ALL ENGINEERS TOO DIED WITH THE SINKING OF THE SHIP. WE COMMEMORATE THIS INCIDENT'S 100 YEARS ON 14TH APRIL 2012. THE PICS BELOW SHOW ITS WRECKAGE.
